Pale Reflection

February 1, 2010 | 16 comments

This dim view keeps me wanting.
I squint at mystery.
I see only in part,
then shall I see
in full.
On this side,
it’s good to
be left wanting,
to feel
unsatisfied.

For it keeps
hope alive.

***

For now we see in a mirror dimly,
but then face to face;
now I know in part, but then I will know fully
just as I also have been fully known.
— 1 Corinthians 13:12

***

Today, I celebrate Day 364 of my 37th year.
Thank you, Jesus,
For
this life.
For knowing me — even before I breathed
first earthly breaths on February 2, 1972!
For revealing only so much.
For mystery in the unseen.
For fully knowing me,
even as I do not yet know fully.
For You.
Yes,
for You.
I love You.
