{through the lens} I Believe in God

June 8, 2012 | 42 comments

God’s glory showed up in my mailbox yesterday. Laura Boggess, author and artist and beautiful friend, sent me this painting, photographed above. The words are just a few coming out of the overflow of my heart, inspired by Laura’s painting.

Linking with Deidra and Sandra this weekend…

UNTO THE GLORY {favorite things}:

Hi friends …

I found so many goodies around the Web this week. I’m excited to share a few of my favorites with you:

• Do you feel like you’re the sloooowest work in progress ever? Yeah. Me, too… If you’re like me, you might enjoy this post by Holley Gerth. Holley writes:  “Because while I may not ever be a grape grower, I belong to One.” Yes … fruit takes time to grow. Let’s go easy on ourselves.

• Were you a Mr. Rogers fan? Oh friend. You will LOVE this: A Mr. Rogers remix.

• Deidra Riggs writes: “On the day I woke up counting calories, and figuring out how much I’d need to exercise in order to lose three pounds that week, I knew something was wrong.” <—- If you can relate to that, even a little bit, then you might just want to read this.

• And this… A song that moves me so:

” When the stars burn down and the earth wears out
And we stand before the throne
With the witnesses who have gone before
We will rise and all applaud
Singing blessing and honor and glory and power
Forever to our God “

    Beautiful. Absolutely exquisite. That Laura…

And you, Friend? You could have just tucked it away to savor yourself, but you chose to share it.

You blessed us all, extending the precious gift.

Yes, that Laura is amazing. The painting stood well all on its own, of course, but I couldn’t help but share the words bubbling on the inside when I looked at it. Things like flowers and paintings — people like Laura and Sheila — all of this is evidence of a God’s whose hands have caressed the Earth.

Always inspired by the way friends encourage one another. Beautiful painting, just another one of Laura’s gifts I didn’t know about. Thankful you shared it with us.

I know. I KNOW! Laura is so talented. I gasped when I opened the envelope. I recall reading — a FB status? a blog post? — that Laura was having some fun with art. Maybe she’ll drop by and tell us the story. 🙂

It is gorgeous… and sure fits into my bright-color-oriented love of life. [I’d say “color-oriented personality”, but sometimes I end up with shades of “boring”. ;-).]

I’m so delighted that you are enjoying the painting, Jennifer. It makes me so happy to know that. This is the best part of the art, no? Giving it away…

As far as a story–not really much of one. Painting is something I just play with. Sometimes I get a wee bit blocked with the words and squeezing out that vibrant color onto a white palette is like balm. Sometimes it gives me so much joy that I tremble. 🙂

The best part is sharing, though. And you’ve made it even sweeter with these words.

I perhaps should have asked before posting. 🙂 … I thought about that afterward. Isn’t there a saying about it being easier to ask for forgiveness, instead of permission? 🙂

It is a joy to share your art.

Deidra’s Sunday community is great, isn’t it? It’s the perfect example of that overwhelming evidence, I think.

I’m a bit late to the party this week. It’s taken me this long to get here for this post. Thanks for the link to that Body Image post. It’s opened up so many opportunities for discussion with so many women.

    Bless you!
