How To Have a Good Morning
Your morning coffee is still brewing, and the enemy is already waging his battle against you.
He’s planting seeds that he wants to sow right into your heart, to steal any hope you might have of a good morning. The enemy’s seeds are the shape of lies, and not a single one of them lines up with Truth.
These are lies about your worth, your purpose, and God’s goodness. As a result, those lies make you think you’ll never be able to stand up under the circumstances you face.
The enemy is working hard to try to snatch hope away from you, but your hope doesn’t belong in the hands of a thief. It belongs in the hands of God.
This morning, I read the following verses in the Message paraphrase of Colossians, and they were just what I needed. Maybe you need them, too?
“Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (Colossians 3:1-2)
I can relate to the truth of those verses. I’ll bet you can, too. Undoubtedly, on many mornings, we wake up with fear and distraction, “shuffling along,” as it says in the verse above. But because of God, we can wake up with hope; the secret of of having a good morning — every single morning — is seeing things from His perspective. There’s a lot of talk about morning routines everywhere you look — TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram to name a few. But this right here is the secret to a successful morning: checking in with God and being alert to what He wants you to see.
Let God be the key to your morning routine, starting today. Spend time in His word. Spend time in prayer. Spend time reminding yourself of the love He has for you. Even just a few minutes with Jesus at the start of your morning can flush out the negative thoughts swirling in your mind.
We truly can choose to see things from Jesus’ perspective. As soon as we wake up, we can choose to look up and stay alert. Let’s choose HOPE.
As long as God keeps waking us up in the morning, He has plans for us. He’s been working behind the scenes, even while we were sleeping. So don’t lose hope. This hope you’ve been given is your inheritance.
