I have been thinking so much about the book of Isaiah and about that old song, “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” — in which Christ is the Rose! What an especially beautiful gift your rose is to my mind and heart because of this. (A God- incidence!) And now I think I’m going to get out some of my red silk roses to decorate the Advent candle centerpiece. Thank you much!
That’s one of my favorite quotes, Jennifer. Thanks for sharing it with such a lovely photo… I’ve been thinking of how sweet memories are gifts and there is your post! 🙂 Blessed December to you too!
Jennifer, when I saw that title in my inbox, I wondered if you would elaborate on the Barrie quote. It’s one of my absolute favorites. How serendipitous, as well. Just a couple of weeks ago, I presented a friend with a poem I’d written for him, called Roses of Remembrance (where I cited the quote), in remembrance of his mother who had passed away a year ago. Also, if any of your readers are experienceing grief this season, I’d recommend Marilyn Heavilen’s book, Roses in December. May we spread abroad the sweet fragrance of our Rose of Sharon, Christ Jesus, this Advent Season and at Christmas. Thank you beyond words for your beautiful, fragrant posts< Jennifer.
Love, Lynn
God also gave us the southern climate so we can have roses in December, although mine didn’t make it all the way to December this year! We’ve already started freezing in the North Carolina mountains.
such hope, this rose-despite-the-cold….
That… is beautiful. 🙂
What a great quote!
Just love this picture, it is beautiful.

What a treat!! I so love flowers [not a good gardener, but love them, anyhow]. You made me grin, which is a good thing.
Blessings..
