Old Words, Found
I’ve told stories for as long as I can remember, mostly as a journalist for Midwestern newspapers. I still “love to tell the story.” And I’m humbled that you continue to join me here, where we “Get Down” to the depths of the story.
Thank you for journeying with me in this story, His story.
I stumbled across an old poem in my personal archives. I dug it out to share it with you today.
I wrote it some years ago,
to record who I was,
who I am,
and WHOSE I am
forevermore.

“The Author”
I thought that it was just a book, a tale of long ago.
Reserved for nuns and scholars, and for people “in the know.”
I feared it was a fairy tale that could not be believed.
Written down by foolish men who somehow were deceived.
I went about my busy life, to chase a front-page story,
And turned my back upon the gift of recognizing glory.
I gave no credit to the Author – I tried to write alone.
My audience was humankind – not the Lord upon His throne.
But He’s the King of second chances – I’ve had quite a few.
The Lord had mercy on a sinner. I have been renewed.
I still love to tell the story – but now it’s of God’s love.
My eyes are fixed on Jesus and His Heav’nly Throne above.
Remembering anew how
He breathed in me
and How that Breath of Life
changed
everything.
I've never heard truer words.
Truly beautiful
"..to record who I was,who I am,and WHOSE I am forevermore."
Oh, my Lord. With watery eyes I write this. Who am I is what I just posted. The Lord has resurrected the words you wrote years ago to bring life to me today. Thank you.
This is beautiful! I love poems!

You've written such beauty.
That's beautiful sister Jennifer and thank you for sharing. Thank God for His mercy!!! Blessings to you.
Hi Jennifer
This is a beautiful poem. I wanted to stop by and thank you for coming by my blog, My Autumn Years and praying for us in our journey with Lyme Disease. How nice of you! I am praying for you too and hope all is well with you.
Amen. Touched my heart, God bless
I love this Jennifer, so very beautiful my friend. I'm so very thankful God placed you along my journey. You bless me everytime I visit you.
The beauty of the heart behind the poem is what keeps me returning to your site. Putting everything on the line for Jesus.
Wonderful!
Good stuff, as usual. Thanks for sharing.
love the hint at journalism, "Chasing the front page story," but really we ALL are doing this, chasing after the things that really dont matter.

I visited another blog today where the author asked who Jesus was to us…your poem answers that well for you. Only those who know Him as Savior can speak such things of him. My husband knows Him as an historical figure whom he admires…but Jesus causes people to fall deeply in love with Him!
Thank you for sharing this poem
Awesome poem, Jen. I skipped the first paragraph and jumped to the poem expecting someone famous had written it. Beautiful words from the heart!
(oh, and YES, someone famous wrote it! *smile* a princess, ya know!)
His story is wonderful.
Thank You, Lord.
I picked you for an award. 🙂
