An Interview with Jesus
You can take the girl out of the newsroom, but you can’t take the newsroom out of the girl. I can be such a Nosy Nellie sometimes.
The Bible contains all the words and promises and stories that we need to live a life of faith. But my imagination runs wild when I read that verse tucked into the last part of the Gospel of John.
“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.”
— John 20:21
I read those words, and I ache to know more. The commentators and theologians say the Gospel writers gave us just what we needed; more would have been unnecessary. They say John was using hyperbole when he wrote that way. Still, I wonder.
What would a whole world filled with the retelling of Jesus’ miracles look like?
And then I think about the way you and I are a part of the story, with feet and hands and mouths to spread the Gospel to all corners.
And I think about the way God’s wonders are evident in every cobweb, snowflake, grain of sand. Ah … maybe the whole world really is filled with the story of God at work?
The Holy Ghost saw it fit to limit the pages of Scriptures. Perhaps our minds could only handle so much in print. And the rest of the story? Perhaps it’s still being told.
As for Jesus’ miracles, they were innumerable and marvelous, and all the pages of all the books in the world could not contain the whole of them.
So, I have a prayer. I’m hoping God will let this Nosy Nellie take her old reporter’s notebook to Heaven someday. I’d like an interview with the King.
what a wonderful message…. I too would like to hear more and maybe that is what we see every day when we look for miracles.

That’s always been one of my favorite verses, too.
Someday you’ll get that interview. Of course, you won’t be able to write it up and print it (which will be a real bummer), but maybe when you’re face to face with the Savior you won’t mind so much.
This is such a great take on the word Jennifer. I have often thought about the people in the Old Testament the Spirit chose to write about. Surely there were other stories going on at the same time. I wonder what they were and what those people were like. Maybe we’ll get to do that interview some day!
People say that the age of miracles passed a long time ago. Maybe we just don’t know how to recognize them. Good post, Jennifer.

So many stories the world would have no room for the books – Oh, I want to read those untold stories. I’ve always been curious about letters not included in the New Testament. Ah! Don’t worry, Jennifer! One day in heaven we will all know of the miracles that were not written down in books! All will be revealed. And I have to agree…Jesus’ miracles are still happening today. Every life turned over to Him is the greatest miracle of all.
