How Endings Can Be Beautiful
We watch the sun melt across a sherbert sky. This is the art of God, who paints in a hundred shades of orange and pink and red on the edge of the day.
Sunsets are God’s built-in reminders that even endings can be beautiful.
They also remind us that we are Easter people,
the children of rebirth and
fresh starts and
brand-new days.
And here on the rim of another ending, God whispers in our hearts: Turn east, dear child, for the sun also rises.

I whisper my thanks to you for your kind emails, your prayers and your words in the comment box as we moved my parents from our childhood home of 42 years. You are really the best. And please know this: God used your love to make the ending so very beautiful for our family. We are settling Mom and Dad into their new place today. And it’s beautiful.
And it already feels like home.
I’m so glad it’s going well.
Love the analogy of turning expectantly toward the east for a new day
So beautiful, this Jennifer. It is the hope that fills our lives with peace – new beginnings.
“And here on the rim of another ending, God whispers in our hearts: Turn east, dear child, for the sun also rises.” I love everything about this Jennifer! Exquisite, as are you!
Jennifer, as always, so beautiful, so touching and gentle. It comes from a precious heart. May the Lord bless your mom and dad in their new place.
We try to make home into an unmovable place because we know that day is coming. That is what our hearts were made for. My thoughts are with you.
I love the redemption you find in this experience. So beautifully wrought–thank you.
So glad you all are finding beauty in your new home.
Beautiful. Simply that.
I know I’ll go through this with my mom. And I’ll remember your writing this week. And I’ll come back and read it again and it will minister again. Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing it with us.
Just read the other post and this one. It’s amazing how attached we get to things (and I mean that in a good way). We have memories and these places feel like old friends too. Glad it is going well for you! Blessings Jennifer and thanks.
